Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme brought to you by the folks over at The Broke and the Bookish (the pic also belongs to them). This week’s theme is Spring Fever: Top Ten Books I’d Play Hooky With
I was having trouble coming up with a list of books that wouldn’t repeat my other top ten lists, so I decided to go with book characters I’d play hooky with!
Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables – There would be no one better to spend a beautiful spring day with! Maybe we could dye each other’s hair?
Hassan from An Abundance of Katherines – Sometimes all I want to do is lie around watching Judge Judy. I have reason to believe that Hassan would enjoy making wisecracks at daytime television with me.
Manchee from The Knife of Never Letting Go – My very own talking dog/new best friend. We’d go for walks in parks. Very safe parks.
Eric Northman from Dead to the World – Dead sexy.
Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series – Luna’s an odd duck, but I have to imagine an afternoon with her would involve something completely unexpected.
Jane Eyre from Jane Eyre – Jane and I would sit around talking books and drinking tea. I imagine it’d be like the days she spent with Helen Burns or something.
Qwill from the Cat Who books – Qwill is rich and always doing something interesting… like sponsoring art shows or going to a cabin or something. Also, he and his cat solve mysteries. I am sure it would be an interesting day, although I worry I might get murdered if I were to briefly befriend Qwill.
Ha! I think I’d love to spend a day with Luna Lovegood. It would be very… interesting, to say the least.
And Eric Northman? Yummy.
I’d play hooky with Damon Salvatore…as long as he was from the TV series “Vampire Diaries”. I wouldn’t mind an afternoon with Eric Northman either! I like the adaptation…I was scared for a second thinking I had read the topic wrong for my own top ten list! haha!
The books I want to skip work for right now are mostly the same ones I put as my top ten last week (to be read this spring), so I was trying to be a little creative. Sorry to confuse you!
Great picks – love to read other people’s top 10 Tuesday’s. Anne of Green Gables is such a spring book too.
Yes! I just finished reading it and it went perfectly with the gorgeous spring weather we’ve been having!
Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books/series! I would go anywhere with her, particularly since she has such a great imagination that anything would be about ten times more fun!
Agreed! And sometimes I just need a friend who will talk my ear off with stories that are only funny because I didn’t live them!
It would be certainly be a nice change from being the person who does all the embarrassing things and makes everyone else laugh!
Anne Shirley and Jane! *sigh* Two of my favorites right there. Awesome picks. 🙂
Wendy @ The Midnight Garden
What a fun way to approach the Top Ten Tuesday! I would love to spend a day with Anne. She’s on my list too!
Great list! Playing hooky with Jane Eyre. How fantastic. Would love for you to stop by and check out my Top Ten.
One thing I love about reading a series is that it feels like getting to go back and hang out with old friends any time a new book comes out. I think I might like to hang out with Stephanie Plum and in a similar vein, Charlie Davidson from the Grave series by Darynda Jones. Those girls make me laugh so hard, I think they would be fun.
I love Eric in thought, but in reality he would scare me and I wouldn’t want him actually sucking my blood. oogie. In fact, I don’t think I’m really cool enough to hang out with any of the male leads in my favorite urban fantasy novels. They’d more likely leave me shaking in my boots. I’m safer if they stay in my dreams.
Yeah… in compiling this list I realized that many of the characters I like from books are actually not people I’d want to hang out with in real life. But apparently I make exceptions for sexy vampires.
