June 2012 Roundup

June was a super insane month for me, but I somehow managed to fit in a handful of books.  I also became the proud new owner of a Kindle Fire, so I spent a good part of the month playing with my new toy and trying out e-books.  I hardly posted any reviews, so really this is more of a preview of what’s to come.

Books Read (with links to my review/Goodreads):

The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesey

Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King (audiobook; I probably won’t review this one as I got pretty lost with the non-linear story.  Definitely read this one in print!)

One Pink Line by Dina Silver (review coming on Monday)

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Charmed Thirds by Megan McCafferty (Oh, Jessica Darling, I cannot get enough of you)

Wife 22 by Melanie Gideon (I’ll review this one, but here’s a little spoiler– it was my favorite book of the month!)

In the Works: I am currently reading Soulless and am in the middle of listening to The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian on audiobook. I’ve got Fourth Comings checked out from the library and have Jennifer Weiner’s latest book, The Next Best Thing waiting for me on the Kindle.  I’m also hoping to try a couple new-to-me romance authors this month as I have clearly been in the mood for mostly contemps or romances lately.  That is probably because it is summer and I seem to prefer emotional reads in the summer.  (I read all of Wally Lamb’s books last summer.  Talk about emotional reads…)  I am hoping to get caught up on reviews in the next few weeks, as I definitely have some opinions to share with you all about what I’ve been reading.  Also, I’m taking a well-deserved vacation towards the end of the month, but I am hoping to be able to schedule some posts in advance to cover that week.

How is your summer reading going?

  1. Ooh congrats on your new kindle fire! You’ve been reading (and listening!) to some good looking books. I really need to check out the Jessica Darling series – everyone loves them and they sound like such fun reads. Hope you are enjoying Soulless. I really liked that one and need to catch up with the last two books sometime. Looking forward to your review of Wife 22. That looks like a fun read.
    Enjoy your upcoming vacation!

    • Thanks, Lucy! I seem to have stumbled upon some really good and really fun reads lately. I look forward to sharing them. I bet you’ll like the Jessica Darling series… it is fun and smart!
