Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature/meme brought to you by the folks over at The Broke and the Bookish (the button also belongs to them). This week’s theme is the Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me.
Santa, you can just send these directly to my Kindle any day now. I’ve been a good girl this year, I promise!
1. The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay– This one was all over the Twittersphere last week and now I’m all I must have this and read it so I can be one of the cool people again. Also, it’s supposed to be mad good and I like mad good books.
2. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell– I know this isn’t out in the US yet, but I’d like to believe that Santa has connections in the UK and will be able to get me this one a couple months in advance. Maybe he’ll even raid the book-printing factory in the US so I can get the beautiful US cover!
3. Across the Universe by Beth Revis– I’ve been meaning to read this one forever. So Santa, put it on my shelf so I can do what I do with all other books I own: keep on meaning to read it forever.
4. Pigs at Christmas by Arlene Dubanevich– This is my all-time favorite Christmas picture book. I could use a copy for Baby Girl’s collection.
5. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier– I want to read this and it seems like the sort of book that would look good on my bookshelf, so uhh, Santa, hook me up?
6. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn– I’ve been chatting with Brandyn about this one and that reminds me that I need to own it because someday I’m going to reread it. I have a feeling the rereading experience will be just as good as the first time. Also, a second copy might be handy. I know I will be pressing this onto other people at some point.
7. Blasphemy by Sherman Alexie– I actually asked someone to get me this for Christmas because I’m pretty sure it is a book my husband would also read, so clearly we need to own it for household uses.
8. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer– My mother-in-law raves about these books and she usually steers me in the right direction.
9. Nature’s Metropolis by William Cronon– I’ve been asking for this book for years, hoping someone would stumble upon it at a used bookstore. I don’t read much history any more, but Cronon is a really great writer and I sort of owe it to my degree to read this at some point. I just don’t want to pay academic press prices for it!
10. Surprise me. There is nothing better than getting a gift you didn’t know you wanted until you got it!

You have both copies? I’m jealous! I’ve been trying to be patient and wait until the US edition is released because of that cover. I plan on pre-ordering if I get some amazon gift cards for Christmas!
YES go read The Sea of Tranquility!!!! I just finished Jamie’s End of Year book survey and that was my favorite for SEVERAL questions. It’s on Netgalley. GO. lol

I don’t have NetGalley (my blog is lucky to get more than 10 views a day, so uhh, I don’t bother trying to get review copies of anything), but it is available on kindle. So I will read it… maybe over Christmas. I’m trying to finish up my Series Catch Up books like the good little blogger I am first!
I’ve had Across the Universe and A Million Suns on my shelf for a while, but I haven’t read it yet – and I have no idea why. I love Beth, and I think she’s awesome and I could use a little sci-fi in my life…
This is a problem for me with nearly everything I own… I bought it because I want to read it, but I can’t stop myself from going to the library and checking out huge stacks of books I have to read on a deadline! I hope we’ll both read Across the Universe one of these days– it sounds really good!
So agree about the US cover of Eleanor & Park! It’s so perfect I’ll end up buying a second copy 😦
I’m not usually that cover picky, but I have to have the US cover of Eleanor & Park. And it shows how patient/cheap (HA!) that I’ve been waiting it out to get that book. At least if you have two copies, you can lend one out without worrying about it!
I’ll have to check some of these books out! I’ve only heard of 2 =( I applaud you for being patient. I wish I was. If I have to have a book, I’ll buy it as soon as I have the money even though I do hate hardbacks, lol. x
That happens to me sometimes, too, but I’ve been really good about sticking to the library this year. It’s tough to beat free books!

Great list! I just downloaded Sea of Tranquility today (it was a freebie on NetGalley (no request needed!)). I’ve got a copy of Eleanor and Park, but haven’t read it yet. Still need to read SOOO many books! Definitely love your list, especially considering you added some books for baby girl! 🙂

I liked Gone Girl too, and it would certainly be interesting to reread it now that I already know how it ends. Also, Rebecca is great — definitely worth owning!
I don’t often buy books I’ve already read, but I think Gone Girl would be interesting to read knowing the twists. And I really need to get Rebecca the next time I see it at the store!
