April 2012 Roundup

April just flew by, but here’s what I’ve been up to in the past month…

Books Read (with links to my reviews):

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer

Matched by Allie Condie (audiobook)

After the Snow by S.D. Crockett

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle (BHA pick of the month)

Starters by Lissa Price

Unwind by Neal Shusterman (audiobook)

On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

In the Works: I am reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and listening to Okay for Now at the moment.  I’ve got a huge stack of library books I’m hoping to tackle as well, including Sloppy FirstsLola and the Boy Next Door, and Simply From Scratch.  For the Book Hoarders Anonymous May read-along, I’ll be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which I was hesitant about until I saw how short it is!  I’m also waiting for a couple books from the library, which may or may not get to me this month– Insurgent, of course, and also Wife 22.  If you can’t tell, I have been needing a break from the dystopia and have been trying to include a little more contemporary, romance/chick lit, as well as a few adult books, too.

How was your April?  What are you looking forward to in the coming month?

  1. I think I overdosed on dystopian too! I’m definitely a mood reader and right now, my mood is contemp or historical fiction. As you know, I’m reading Second Helpings right now and might read a fantasy next (since I do have two from the library right now). Insurgent is on hold for me as well…should be the only dystopian for a while!

I think I need to start doing round ups! I like the idea of summarizing a month of reading!

    • Sounds like a fun month planned for you, too! I’m #18 on my library’s hold list for Insurgent… I am getting impatient as I see people finishing it in a day. Oh well, maybe Jessica Darling will distract me for a bit?

It’s always crazy for me to look at what I’ve read in a month… I always read more than I feel like I did. I am a little obsessed with tracking my reads, so this just feeds into that. haha

  2. Sounds like you’ve got a good month ahead of you! I hope you enjoy Charlie. I’m already almost done with it! It’s a super quick read.

    • I’m looking forward to it as a quick read as I’ve been having commitment issues with books lately. As in, I start one, then start another, then start another and may or may not finish them all. I figure a short, fun book will help focus me a bit.
